Spring E-News – October 2011
Spring – and the joys of the solstice… and wind-blown hair

– enough to put the calmest of us into a flap!

For some fabulous ideas on keeping your cool as the weather warms and the winds blow, talk to the Headlines team. In the meantime, enjoy our spring news, including the launch of the exciting new De Lorenzo Elements range of styling products. They’re inspired by earth, air, water and fire, and so is our spring newsletter!

Earth…shatteringly good

Robyn and Kate’s Hair Expo experience in Sydney in June. With 6 courses to attend they immersed themselves in the wonderful world of hair.
2010 UK Hairdresser of the Year

An absolute highlight was Antoinette Beenders’ brilliant presentation and stage work. Antoinette was 2010 UK Hairdresser of the Year and has styled the hair of A-list celebs including Kate Winslet and Catherine Zeta-Jones. Her demonstration was exciting and inspiring – short, smart croppy haircuts for the new season look – a concept Robyn and Kate have already introduced to clients.
Lunch with Anthony
Mascolo

Lunch with Anthony Mascolo, the head of Toni and Guy also featured – an honour to enjoy such esteemed company and delve into some more great new looks and techniques for perfecting fashion shoot hair.

Go have a look on his Facebook and see why Kate and Robyn love his work!

Kate was walking on air…

Invited to participate in the creative team at NZ Fashion Week
The experience was ‘awesome’ and Kate was thrilled to find many familiar faces among the stylish crowds. She worked on a number of shows over three days including Huffer, Miromoda and Brady by Urban Creative designer Theresa Brady.

Briefed in by a creative director from KMS on the theme and style for each show, the hairdressers were working to tight timelines. The model calls were fast and furious, with models sent to and from hair and makeup (by MAC & Smashbox). Kate was also called
on to help out with ‘running repairs’ backstage – even more pressure on to get the models back to tip top presentation before their next sashay down the runway.

Kate and a colleague even managed to bluff their way into the Huffer show, and enjoyed free tickets to the Zambesi runway show too – the champagne was flowing! All in all an impressive string to Kate’s bow, a fabulous experience and one Kate is keen to repeat if the opportunity comes up next time around.

Water – under the bridge…

Will soon be the confusion over Nioxin as rumours were doing the rounds that our favourite specialist hair products would no longer be available. They well and truly are, under the banner of new owner Proctor and Gamble – manufacturing from state of the art premises and retaining complete integrity around all production processes.

We’ve retained supply throughout the transition and we’re looking forward to seeing new packaging and formulations in salon Oct 19 – meanwhile we’re offering a fabulous run out special 15% off current product
while stocks last. We’ll keep you posted on training with a new Nioxin consultant in November.

Training has always been a focus at Headlines, and we’ve been fortunate to enjoy a workshop and De Lorenzo ‘Look & Learn’ seminar recently with Richard Kownacki, DL’s Education Specialist.

With a great ability to impart knowledge and ‘walk the talk’ Robyn reckons Richard is the best trainer she’s had the opportunity to work with. No wonder the Headlines team is always brimming with fresh ideas!

Back home and down to earth with a bit of a bump
– to the news that Tracy is moving on.

We wish her all the best with her recent engagement and in her future endeavours. We’ve now welcomed Vanessa – a hairdresser who’s originally a Northlander, but completed her training and early hairdressing years in Hamilton.

To celebrate her arrival we’re offering a ‘cut price cut’ deal – just $50 for a cut until Christmas with either Vanessa or Amy. Book soon!

We’re on fire with some beautiful new products

– the De Lorenzo Elements styling collection. Paraben free, featuring new-generation polymers to increase resistance to moisture and humidity to reduce the frizzies.

The range offers ‘elemental shape memory’ which assists with creating great control while also giving a natural and lasting finish and imparting a healthy shine.

Earth, Air, Water and Fire inspire the unique formulations, with each range designed for different uses and results. They incorporate key natural ingredients including cinnamon oil, rock crystals, organic basil and fig extract (Earth styling selection).

There’s also natural UV protection across the range, provided by the humblest of ingredients – sunflower seedcake. The sunflower seed is one of the few seed husks not damaged by the sun’s rays. These properties are captured in the Elements range.

With products for every hair type and style, from gravity defying to weightless natural waves, the De Lorenzo Elements range is gorgeous to use, with no residue left on hands when it’s applied, and no sticky or tacky feel. Check it out in salon soon!
